Next Generation distribution system and its high voltage equipments; Environmental consideration are one of the important issues in the future distribution systems like smart grid. Protection and control system using digital technology will be needed to control the power quality when introducing various types of renewable energy sources. With regard to the equipments, SF6 gas utilized in GIS poses environmental concerns. Hitachi has developed some SF6-free switchgears. The followings will be studied in this course; 1, Power quality control technology for the network with various types of energy sources 2, Introduction of Hitachis newly developed circuit breaker and switchgear and 3, Switchgear design based on numerical simulations.
